There’s a concept in Latin culture called Duende, and it offers an interesting lens for viewing the mechanics of flow.

Duende is most commonly associated with the Spanish dance style, flamenco.

Here’s a quote about the mysterious state-of-being from author Miranda France:

It means something like “spirit”, and it refers to the moment of ecstasy that may be triggered during a powerful performance of flamenco. If the conditions are right, the elements of guitar, voice and dance fuse with the spectators’ rhythmic clapping and shouting to create an energy that intoxicates the senses.
